Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL)

Electronics Corporation of India Limited, or ECIL for short, is a Government of India enterprise that operates under the Department of Atomic Energy. Established in 1967 in Hyderabad, Telangana, ECIL was born out of the vision to cultivate a solid indigenous electronics foundation in India, aiming to cut down on our reliance on foreign technology.

Founding Objectives:

ECIL was set up with a mandate to design, develop, and manufacture electronics products in strategic sectors such as:

  • Nuclear energy

  • Aerospace

  • Telecommunications
  • Information technology

The aim was to support India’s self-reliance in critical areas of national importance.
