The 74th Indian Army Day is celebrated in India on 15 January 2022. This day is a matter of great pride for every Indian, as we pay our respects to the daredevils of our country and salute them for the sacrifices they make each day for the country. The day is marked to commemorate the day when General (later Field Marshal) KM Carriappa took over the command of the Army from General Sir FRR Bucher, the last British Commander-in-Chief in 1949 and became the first Commander-in-Chief of Indian Army post Independence.
