Ramsar Site Designation: In August 2021, it was officially recognized as a Ramsar site, marking it as a wetland of global importance.
Significance: The Pala Wetland is part of a Wetland Reserve that encompasses both the deep lake and the lush forest catchment area surrounding it.
Fauna: This wetland is a haven for wildlife, supporting a diverse range of animal species, including at least seven mammals, 222 bird species, 11 amphibians, and 21 reptiles.
