
In 1957, Bagurumba reached national attention when it was featured at the Republic Day celebrations in New Delhi, led by renowned Bodo dancer Ostad Kamini Kr. Narzary. The performance — viewed as enchanting and unprecedented — introduced the Bodo folk dance to audiences across the country for the first time.
Organised by the Assam government to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the Bodo community, the event titled ‘Bagurumba Dwhou 2026’, featured the participation of more than 10,000 artistes from 81 assembly constituencies across 23 districts of the state.
