RMS: Rabi Marketing Season
RMS 2022-23 starts from 1st April 2022 and goes on till mid June. This marketing is of the crops grown in Rabi 2021-22.
Kharif Marketing Season starts from 1st Oct and goes till Dec. Here Marketing actually means procurement by FCI.
Procurement of Wheat by FCI has declined in RMS 2022-23. This is because the wheat prices in the private mandis and global/export market is ruling higher than MSP (Rs. 2015/quintal), so the farmers who used to sell in APMC mandis to FCI have sold their stock in private mandis and exported.
The price of wheat in the private/international market has increased because of slightly less production of wheat in India due to extreme heat conditions and Russia-Ukraine crisis.
