Russia launches GLONASS-K satellite navigation system: Russia has launched a GLONASS-K navigation system from northern cosmodrome, north of Moscow.

This system was carried by Soyuz-2.1b medium-class launch vehicle. GLONASS-K is a navigation satellite intended as a part of the Russian GLONASS radio-based satellite navigation system.
