India has taken a major step forward in wetland conservation by adding four new sites to the esteemed Ramsar List of Wetlands of International Importance. This increases the total number of Ramsar sites in India to 89. The new additions include two wetlands from the northeastern region, one from Gujarat, and Udhwa Lake from Jharkhand.
