Tata Group to Build $11 Billion AI Innovation City in Maharashtra

Tata Group announced a $11 billion investment to develop an AI Innovation City near the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport. The project will focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI), data centres, and semiconductor-related services. The Innovation City is expected to become a global hub for next-generation technology and digital services. Its strategic location near the airport will boost global connectivity, attracting multinational companies and investors. Maharashtra government leaders said the project gained attention at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Davos.

Project Details and Objectives

The announcement was made by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum 2026 in Davos, Switzerland. The project is a partnership between the Maharashtra government’s MMRDA and Industries Department, with the Tata Group assuming the lead role.

Focus Areas: The Innovation City is set to become a vibrant hub for artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, cutting-edge technologies, deep tech, digital infrastructure, and research and development (R&D).

Infrastructure: The investment will go towards building a large-scale data center, high-performance computing facilities, AI platforms, and genomics laboratories.
