Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal Launches LIMBS Dashboard to Track Court Cases Live

Union Minister of State for Law and Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal, unveiled the LIMBS Live Cases Dashboard on October 14, 2025, in New Delhi. This innovative dashboard is part of the Legal Information Management and Briefing System (LIMBS), a centralized digital platform designed to streamline how ministries keep track of and manage legal cases.

What is LIMBS?

The Legal Information Management and Briefing System (LIMBS) was first introduced in 2015 by the Ministry of Law and Justice to digitize legal data and coordinate litigation for the Government of India. The portal gathers information about legal cases from various departments, aiming to cut down on litigation backlogs and improve overall efficiency. With over 700,000 active cases currently listed from 53 ministries and departments, LIMBS has become an essential tool for enhancing the government’s legal readiness and accountability.

Features of the LIMBS Live Cases Dashboard

Real-Time Case Monitoring

The newly launched dashboard offers real-time data visualization of upcoming court cases, including those in the Supreme Court, High Courts, and subordinate courts. It displays all cases scheduled for hearing in the next week, enabling ministries and departments to prepare in advance. The dashboard allows ministers and officers to access case updates directly from their offices, eliminating the need for intermediaries.

Enhanced Coordination

  • By providing a central view of all pending and upcoming litigation, the dashboard enhances inter-ministerial coordination, allowing for consistent responses and collaborative preparation.
  • This reduces delays caused by miscommunication or lack of visibility, particularly in high-stakes or multi-departmental cases.

The Government of India, known for being one of the largest litigants, is actively working to lighten the load of litigation, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision. A crucial element of this effort is LIMBS, which is designed to keep a close eye on court cases in a systematic and efficient manner.

Currently, the LIMBS portal is tracking an impressive 723,123 live cases across 53 different Ministries and Departments. There are 13,175 users from various Ministries and 18,458 advocates who are consistently updating case information.

Officials have pointed out that the introduction of the “Live Cases” Dashboard marks a significant milestone in the government’s journey towards digital transformation. This initiative underscores their commitment to using technology for improved legal case management, insightful data analysis, and enhanced governance outcomes.
