World Philosophy Day 2021: 18 November (Third Thursday of November)

Every year, World Philosophy Day is celebrated on the 3rd Thursday of November month. This day is also known as World Philosophy Day. In 2021, World Philosophy Day is being observed on November 18. It was first celebrated in 2002 by the United Nations.

WPD aims to raise public awareness of the importance of philosophy. Philosophy comes from the Greek word phílosophía which means ‘the love of wisdom.’ It is the study of the nature of reality and existence, of what is possible to know, and of right and wrong behavior.

The theme 2021 for World Philosophy Day is based on “different interactions of human beings with their social, cultural, geographical and political environment, with the underlying objective of better understanding the contribution of philosophy in our contemporary societies and the challenges they face”.
