The 4th Sunday in September is a chance to celebrate the world’s waterways that bring life to our countries, to raise global awareness of the need to support, protect and preserve the rivers around the world.
This year’s theme for World Rivers Day is “Day of Action for Rivers” which celebrates the role of women in protecting and managing rivers. The day was recognised by the United Nations in 2005 upon the proposal initiated by internationally renowned river advocate, Mark Angelo.
