India and Green technology

India and Green technology

Green technologies encompass various aspects of technology that help reduce the human impact on the environment and create ways of sustainable development. India’s recent push for renewable energies and green technologies by pushing for solar, wind and nuclear energy can go a long way in improving the resource-intensive yet highly energy deficit nation’s economy.

How Green technologies can provide an economic push?

Reduce input cost: Indubitably, green technologies have the potential to provide fuel for economic growth in lower input. On one hand, they enable the corporations to cost reductions in energy and resource usage while on the other hand, they offer a route for improving the quality of life and preserving the environment. Therefore, green technologies serve as a boon to both the corporate sectors as well as the mankind at large.

Green Manufacturing: Green manufacturing is a method aimed at manufacturing products in a way that is environmentally sensitive and sustainable. It saves the environment through waste reduction, pollution prevention, and green energy use. It can even increase productivity due to the strategic business alignment that comes with Green manufacturing. Green technologies are progressive and innovative with better quality, reduced waste, more efficient processes, and improved working conditions.

Energy: The energy sector is one of the areas where green technologies can create a huge economic push for a country. It is one sector where you can save costs, provide energy and employment opportunities to people in remote areas effectively.

Reduce GHG: The most important benefit of the large-scale adoption of green technologies is the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. This, in turn, would reduce the severity of global warming and hence help reduce the adverse consequences of it.

Trickle effect:  All the green technologies take into account the needs of the people and environment, thus it is no wonder that an achievement in one area trickles down to other areas also. In India people have used alternative green power generation technologies and have not only fulfilled their own energy needs but have also sold their energy to the grid thereby making significant income.

Rural benefits: Rural areas often face problems of power cuts, very high cost of electricity, and alternative sources of energy due to which it becomes difficult for the rural households to increase their productivity. The same goes with green technologies where it can give a push with respect to the economic growth of the regions where they have properly adopted such projects.

Creation of avenues: Green technologies allow for the creation of new avenues and this helps in giving an economic push to many vacant areas. Consider the green technology for creating biofuel from agricultural wastes. If this ever turns out to be economically viable, the entire scenario of agro-based technologies revamps and it gives a new profitable avenue to farmers too. This helps them in increasing income and reducing their dependence on money lenders.

Green Farming: Green technologies have been proven to be the need of the day. Besides being efficient and productive, it also leads to enhanced food security and increased income of farmers. Farmers across the world, have adopted organic ways of farming and are benefiting greatly from it. In India a spate of farmers are converting their farms to green approaches and are also increasing their yield time and again.
