Which state government announces free education for girls from Nursery to PhD?
In a bid to fulfill one of its major poll promises, Captain Amarinder Singh-led government in Punjab has announced free education for girls in all public institutions from nursery to PhD, in spite of the financial crunch currently being faced by the state. The education sector got a huge boost in the state budget this year with Rs 21 crore earmarked for reforming the infrastructure of primary schools. In addition to free education, the government has proposed to start pre-primary classes (nursery and LKG) in government schools from the next academic session, provide free WiFi across 13,000 primary schools, colleges and 48 government colleges and introduce free textbooks for government school students.

Karnataka government will be merging the existing seven health schemes to launch a unified scheme- 'Arogya Bhagya' which will cover all 1.4 crore households of the state. The government will issue Aadhaar-linked Universal Health Cards to the residents using which they can avail medical care at government-owned hospitals, medical college hospitals, and empanelled private hospitals for free.

With an aim to improve the condition of small and marginal farmers, the Union Ministry of Science and Technology is planning to create Farm Zone which is a collective open source data platform for smart agriculture using biological research. This was announced by the Department of Biotechnology at recently concluded Smart Agricultural Conclave in New Delhi. Farm Zone is a concept that integrates Science & Technology, innovation and the farm ecosystem.
