Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, is a premier private technical institute situated at Mesra, Ranchi, in the state of Jharkhand, India. Established in 1955 by Industrialist B.M Birla, the Institute was conferred with “Deemed University” status in 1986. The Institute has since been a pioneer in offering Engineering courses on a merit basis, also being the first institute in India to establish a Department of Space Engineering and Rocketry as early as in 1964. BIT Mesra, since inception, has consistently been a part of the top 50 best engineering colleges in the country.
