Lord Jagannath’s annual Rath Yatra is observed every year. This year the Rath Yatra held on 12 July without the participation of devotees in view of the Covid situation.

Ratha Yatra is a Hindu festival associated with Lord Jagannath held at Puri in the state of Odisha, India.

It is the oldest Ratha Yatra taking place in India and the World, whose descriptions can be found in Brahma Purana, Padma Purana, and Skanda Purana and Kapila Samhita.

This annual festival is celebrated on Ashadha Shukla Paksha Dwitiya (second day in bright fortnight of Ashadha month).

The festival commemorates Jagannath’s annual visit to Gundicha Temple via Mausi Maa Temple (maternal aunt’s home) near Saradha Bali, Puri.

The government Uttar Pradesh has announced new Population Policy 2021-2030′ on the occasion of World Population Day.

The draft law list that have been put on public domain and the government has sought suggestions from people in policy draft.

The recommendations of policy will be effective after one year of gazette notification. The government is to give incentives and disincentives for the promotion of the two-child norm in the state.

According to the policy draft people having more than two children will not be able to fight local body election.

Those who having up to two offsprings will be provided more government facilities and incentives.

The draft also says that government employees not following two children norm will be forbidden several benefits.

People breaching policy will not able to take benefit of subsidy and government schemes.

Minister for Development of North-Eastern Region (DoNER) G. Kishan Reddy reviewed various developmental activities and programmes taking place in the North-Eastern Region.

The North Eastern Region is the easternmost region of India representing both a geographic and political administrative division of the country. It comprises eight states – Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim.

The states of North Eastern Region are officially recognised under the North Eastern Council (NEC), constituted in 1971 as the acting agency for the development of the north eastern states.

Long after induction of NEC, Sikkim formed part of the North Eastern Region as the eighth state in 2002. India’s Look-East connectivity projects connect Northeast India to East Asia and ASEAN.

Guwahati city in Assam is called the Gateway to the North East and is the largest metropolis in North East India.

LNG is the fuel of the future and will revolutionize the transport sector.

The Country’s first LNG facility plant has been set up by Baidyanath Ayurvedic Group on Kamptee Road near Nagpur Jabalpur Highway

The Central Government is promoting Ethanol, Electric, CNG, LNG gas as an alternative to conventional fuels.

In the recent expansion, the number of women Ministers in the Council of Ministers has been increased to 11, which is the highest number of women Ministers in the Central government since 2004.

The Defence Ministry has recently implemented SPARSH (System for Pension Administration Raksha).

It is an integrated system for automation of sanction and disbursement of defence pension.

This web-based system processes pension claims and credits pension directly into the bank accounts of defence pensioners without relying on any external intermediary.

A Pensioner Portal is available for pensioners to view their pension related information, access services and register complaints, if any.

SPARSH envisages establishment of Service Centres to provide last mile connectivity to pensioners who may be unable to directly access the SPARSH portal.

Pawan Singh has been selected as the first ever Indian juror for the upcoming Tokyo Olympic Games.

Singh is a resident of Pune and is founder-director of the Gun For Glory Shooting Academy in Balewadi.

A total of 26 jury members will officiate at the Olympics of which six will be from Japan and the rest from other countries.

Singh was the competition manager of the recent ISSF World Cup in New Delhi and his work was appreciated by the ISSF.

He has also worked as a Result Timing Score (RTS) Jury in different World Cups.

The state government of Karnataka is planning to introduce the Model Tenancy Act in the state, aimed at ending tenant-owner disputes within two months and aiding the rental housing sector.

Deposits cannot exceed six- month rentals for commercial properties and two-month rentals for residential properties.

Without a valid notice, tenants cannot be evicted during the agreement period.

The rent agreement should be uploaded on the revenue department website and the agreement between tenant and landlord is final.

Without written permission from owners, tenants cannot make any structural changes to the property.

After the litigation, if the tenant fails to vacate the property, a penalty will be imposed which will be double the rent for firsttwo months and four times after that.

Bharat Dynamics Limited recently signed a contract worth about Rs 499 crore with the Ministry of Defence for the manufacture and supply of Akash missiles to the Indian Air Force (IAF).

BDL is the prime production agency for projects under India’s Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme (IGMDP).

Akash is one of the missiles under IGMDP being manufactured by BDL, both for the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force.

The Missile has been successfully test-fired on several occasions and is regarded as one of the best missiles in its category.

The US President Joe Biden has nominated Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti to be the US ambassador to India.

If confirmed by the Senate, Garcetti, 50, would replace Kenneth Juster, who served as the US Ambassador to India during the Trump administration.

Eric M Garcetti has been the Mayor of the City of Los Angeles since 2013, following 12 years as a member of the City Council, including six as Council President.

He currently chairs LA Metro, the country’s second-busiest transit agency, which is building or extending 15 new transit lines, and shifting to an all-electric fleet.

Garcetti is the current Chair of C40 Cities – a network of 97 of the world’s biggest cities taking bold climate action.

Earlier, he has led the organization’s engagement and expansion in India as well as C40’s global response to the Covid pandemic through the sharing of best practices and resources.

For her efforts toward promoting women’s education in Pakistan, in October of 2012 she was attacked and left in critical condition by the Taliban. She was rushed to a UK hospital, where she recovered.

After her recovery, Malala bravely continued to advocate women’s education. And on her 16th birthday, 12 July, 2013, she delivered a moving speech at the UN in favour of women’s rights to education.

She also founded the Malala Fund to help young girls have access to education.
