- According to a statement from the Reserve Bank of Australia, a new design that “honors the culture and history of the First Australians” would be the subject of consultation with Indigenous people. The new banknote would take “several years” to be designed and printed, with the existing $5 note remaining legal tender even after the new design is in people’s hands.
- Australia observed public mourning following Queen Elizabeth’s death on September 8 of last year, but some Indigenous groups also protested the destructive impact of colonial Britain at the time, calling for the abolition of the monarchy.

More About K. Vishwanath and The Films:
For Vauhini Studios in Madras, Viswanath started his professional life as an audiographer. His filmmaking career began under director Adurthi Subba Rao after a brief stint as a sound engineer, and he later went on to work as an assistant director on the 1951 Telugu film Pathala Bhairavi. His first film was Aatma Gowaravan in 1965 and his last was Subhapradam in 2010. He last appeared on screen as an actor in the 2022 movie Oppanda.
He was known for making films about social issues and frequently collaborated with the actor Kamal Haasan, who starred in movies like Sagara Sangamam (1983) and Swathi Muthyam (1986). Vishwanath’s best-known film is Sankarabharanam (1980).

The chatbot, called ‘Bal Mitra’, is an effort to enable two-way communication between people and the child rights panel. It will help citizens and the commission to interact more effectively.

MoHUA signs MOU with Engineers India Limited: The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Engineers India (EIL) to develop waste-to-energy and bio-methanation projects in cities with million-plus population, in alignment with the ‘Green Growth’ goals. Budget 2023-2024 focuses on deployment of 500 new waste-to-wealth plants under the GOBARdhan scheme with an investment size of Rs 10,000 crore.
