Indian Oil – First in India to produce and market AVGAS 100 LL

Aviation Gasoline grade AVGAS 100 LL is produced for turbo-charged reciprocating piston engine aircraft that is generally used by Flight Training Organizations (FTOs) and defence forces to conduct flight training with students. AVGAS 100 LL has just been manufactured for the first time in India by IndianOil’s flagship refinery at Vadodara which has been tested and certified by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) which is India’s statutory regulating body for civil aviation. The higher octane Aviation fuel supplies meet product specifications with higher performance quality standards than foreign grades.

The indigenous availability of AVGAS 100 LL has a number of advantages including reduced reliance on imports and the associated logistics issues. The country will now save precious foreign currency with without the need to import this product.

In the past AVGAS 100 LL was a completely imported product. The availability of domestically produced AVGAS 100 LL manufactured by IndianOil’s Gujarat Refinery will make flying training more affordable in India for more than 35 FTO’s across India. Given the constant demand for more than triple digit aviation flying traffic in India, there will be increased demand for delivering trained Pilots. With the domestically produced product, the Ministry of Civil Aviation is exploring new training institutes in the country.
