Land : Geography

Land, Soil, Water, Natural Vegetation and Wildlife Resources

The land is among the most important natural resources. The land covers about 30% of the total area of the earth’s surface.

The land is classified into two main categories: private land and government owned lands. Most private lands are owned by individual entity (e.g., individuals, firms, and communities), public corporations, or governments.

Government lands are subdivided into grazing pastures, state forests, national parks, military lands, and Indian reservations.

Ninety percent of the world population occupies only 30% of the land area. The remaining 70% of land is either sparsely populated or uninhabited.

Land is unevenly inhabited due to various factors of land and climate, water fertility of soil, etc.

The densely populated areas of the world have plains, river valleys which have suitable land for agriculture.
