The notification issued by the Ministry of Finance prescribes a total of 18.95 percent CVD on imports of Stainless steel flat products from China for the next five years. The decision to impose CVD was taken by the finance ministry after the DGAD’s recommendation.

A new species of edible freshwater fish has been discovered in Pampa river running through Pathanamthitta district of Kerala. Named as Labeo filiferus, it belongs to Labeo genus. The two researchers, Mathews Plamoottil, Assistant Professor, Government College, Chavara, Kollam, and Primoz Zupancic from the Dinaric Research Institute, Slovenia, Europe, have reported the discovery in the latest issue of research journal Bioscience Discovery. The fishes in the Labeo genus are widely distributed in the inland waterbodies of India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Burma, Malaysia, tropical Africa and Syria. They are medium- sized elongate fishes with rounded abdomen, swollen snout, finged lips and a straight lateral line.

The organization that oversees the Nobel Peace Prize says the 1991 prize awarded to Myanmar's Aung Sang Suu Kyi cannot be revoked. The Norwegian Nobel Institute said that neither the will of prize founder Alfred Nobel nor the Nobel Foundation's rules provide for the possibility of withdrawing the honor from laureates. An online petition signed by more than 386,000 people on Change.org is calling for Suu Kyi to be stripped of her Peace Prize over the persecution of Myanmar's Rohingya Muslim minority. Suu Kyi received the award for "her non-violent struggle for democracy and human rights" while standing up against military rulers. She became the country's de facto leader after Myanmar held its first free election in 2012 and she led her party to a landslide victory.

Safe Water Network, an international NGO has partnered with Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to launch water ATMs, providing affordable, 24x7 safe water access in Hyderabad. The first of the ATMs was inaugurated by Telangana State Home Minister N Narasimha Reddy at Nalgonda X Roads. A total of 200 ATMs will be set up to reach a targeted 150,000 people. In the first phase 50 water ATMs will be operationalized by next year. The initiative is supported by USAID under the Urban WaSH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) Alliance Partnership and funded by Honeywell India. Consumers can collect water that is affordably priced at Rs.1 per glass, Rs.2 per litre, Rs.5 per 10 litres, and Rs.10 per 20 litres.
