Daily Current Affairs Article 24th December 2020: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the centenary celebrations of the Visva-Bharati University, Shantiniketan through video conferencing.

Founded by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore in 1921, Visva-Bharati was declared a Central University and an Institution of National Importance by an Act of Parliament in May 1951.

Visva-Bharati acknowledges India's obligation to offer to others the hospitality of her best culture and India's right to accept from others their best.

Visva-Bharati is a public research central university and an Institution of National Importance located in Santiniketan, West Bengal, India.

It was founded by Rabindranath Tagore who called it Visva-Bharati, which means the communion of the world with India. Until independence it was a college.
